Have you been asked to take on that dreaded monthly newsletter? Barely enough time to look through the files, let alone know what to do with them? Need to learn InDesign in a hurry? Then this is the course for you!

Our one day training for Adobe InDesign will quickly guide you through this industry standard design and layout programme used by designers, publishers, artists and writers to produce professional-quality brochures, magazines, books, posters and many other Portable Document Format (PDF) or print based marketing materials.

With its powerful, user-friendly interface, InDesign gives you the capacity to create templates and manage large amounts of styled content making your workflow efficient, consistent and simple to produce and edit stylish publications.

As part of the Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign is seamlessly integrated with the other packages in the suite, including Adobe Bridge, Illustrator and Photoshop, allowing the user to import, manipulate and replace graphics, creating a smart, efficient and time-saving workflow.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this concentrated day of training, students will understand how InDesign can be used to maximise their workflow in creating print productions including :

Course Requirements

As this is an intensive one-day course, previous use or knowledge of document editing software is not required, but would be helpful.

Participants should be comfortable using computers for office tasks; prior experience with any Adobe products would be advantageous but not essential.

Course Description

This Crash Course for Adobe InDesign will quickly guide you through the workspace, toolbox and an array of panels that by the end of the day you will no longer fear and be equipped with the essentials of creating a layout for publication.

Some real-world, hands-on practice lessons will teach you how to build basic spreads, templates and create master pages that you can count on again and again to accomplish the task at hand. Together we will also look at applying and creating styles, placing text and graphics, basic colour management and packing it all up to go to press.

In one concentrated day of creating and working with documents, this course will broaden your understanding of structure, text, styles and graphics and give you control of the properties and editing tools that contribute to a great looking layout. We will also cover the output functions within InDesign for final press, including the use of the pre-flight process and exporting in the PDF digital format.

By the day's end, you will understand the wide range of possibilities available to you from this powerful software, gaining the desktop publishing confidence you need to hit the ground running!

Course Trainer

Bjorn is an Adobe Certified Instructor, Adobe Certified Expert and Certified Associate in Photoshop and inDesign, the industry recognised certification for Adobe products.

He has been involved in working with and training Adobe products for over 15 years. He has a wealth of experience using Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro and Lightroom for editing digital media for use in print, web and video campaigns.

Course Software

The trainers of our Adobe training courses are familiar with most previous versions of Adobe's Creative Suite and therefore will be able to guide your learning no matter which version of the software you have. We try to provide course content that is generic to versions CS3 to CS6 & Creative Cloud, but your trainer will also showcase the features of the latest version. Currently we now demonstrate the functionality of the Creative Cloud suite.

Course Location

This Adobe InDesign intensive course is run from our rooms on Jubilee Campus in Nottingham, which is part of the University of Nottingham's Innovation Park. These are serviced by a state-of-the-art tram system allowing easy access to the city centre as well as direct hourly rail services from London, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Derby and Leicester.
