\"Pantone-Adobe-Creative-Cloud\"Every year the Pantone Colour Institute<\/strong> announce their pick for Colour of the Year<\/strong>. Last year\u2019s colour was called Greenery (15-0343) and it inspired a push towards green and natural palettes.<\/p>\n

The awarded colour of 2018 is Ultra Violet<\/strong> (Pantone 18-3838 TCX or Pantone  2096 C for ink). It\u2019s described as inventive and imaginative by the folks over at Pantone and promises to light the way for the year and what is yet to come.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Pantone Color of the Year has come to mean so much more than \u2018what\u2019s trending\u2019 in the world of design; it\u2019s truly a reflection of what\u2019s needed in our world today.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 says Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ultra Violet is the Pantone Colour of 2018<\/h2>\n

\"pantonePantone explain that purples have always been symbolic of counter-culture<\/strong> and artistic brilliance<\/strong> with musicians such as David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and of course Prince bringing popularity to shades of purple in modern pop culture.<\/p>\n

Ultra Violet purples have also been closely associated with mystical or spiritual practises<\/strong> and is often the key colour for lighting meditation environments.<\/p>\n

In terms of design, where last year\u2019s colour (Greenery) was a calm and soothing, more natural colour<\/strong>. This year\u2019s choice of Ultra Violet purple is a more energetic colour<\/strong> which lends itself well to loud call to actions<\/strong> and lively ethereal designs.<\/p>\n

Creating Ultra Violet in Creative Cloud<\/h2>\n

To create the Ultra Violet colour in Adobe InDesign<\/strong>, Photoshop<\/strong> or Illustrator<\/strong> you will need to add a colour swatch from the Pantone+<\/strong> library using number 2096 C<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, for CMYK<\/strong> you can use Cyan = 76%<\/strong> and Magenta = 75%<\/strong> with both Yellow <\/strong>and Key set to 0%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For screen based media using sRGB<\/strong> colour spaces, you can create a swatch as Red = 101<\/strong>, Green = 78<\/strong> and Blue = 163<\/strong>. For representation in CSS stylesheets use the HEX<\/strong> value of #654EA3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In some cases, PANTONE 7670 C and 3574 C are close approximations to PANTONE 18-3838 TCX.<\/p>\n

Remember that once the colour has been created as a swatch, you can save it to your Cloud Library<\/strong> and access it from any of the Adobe Creative Cloud packages.<\/p>\n
